A sardine would be a euphemism for how I felt hiding out in the locker at this very moment.
First of all, I was hiding out in a LOCKER after all, it was meant to store books and jackets, not human beings. I sucked in a lungful of crisp Autumn air absently smoothing out the creases of the envelope in my hands. Before me stood an old building, one story high with windows barred in made of beige sun-faded brick. My Converse sneakers dragged beneath me as I circled the building looking for the 'entrance'. In my school there has always been a high incidence of happy teen couples. Hell, the percentage of happy couples is so unusually high the local news has covered our school on a leading story-- albeit it was a slow month in the news, and it IS a midsized suburban town.
